Goldfish and Aquarium Board Articles
Filter Profiles: Whisper 10i
By Tamianth

Model: Whisper 10i
Type: Internal filter
Size: 4" W x 7 1/2" h x 2" D
Manufacturer: Tetra
Types of filtration possible: Mechanical, Biological and Chemical
GPH: 90 gph variable adjustment
Tank Size: 2-10 gl
Pros: Adjustable flow, In Tank, easy acess to change media. Media consists of a bag over a frame that is clipped into place and contains a very small amount of carbon, one could add other type of chemical media to the bag such as zeolite though.
Cons: Adjustable flow located behind filter on bottom back. Motor on bottom has a gap and if fry or shrimp are a concern, then a piece of sponge needs wedged up inside the gap as well as attached to the bottom intake.

Caution: No lid or grate on top to stop fish from jumping in or pleco's getting in. There is enough room for fish that may jump and pleco's to get behind or around and trapped behind the media even though it has a plastic frame. A piece of plastic canvas over the top is highly recomended to prevent accidents here as pleco's get hung up in the media bag material. You could also add a small bag of bio media to fill in the large gap in the back or a sponge.

Note: This model also comes with a 2.5 gallon Mini Bow as well as the 5 gallon Mini Bow model. It is a bit too bulky to use in the 2.5 gallon if one is going to use the divider that comes with some models for keeping two Betta's.
